New Moons are times of new beginnings, planting new seeds and setting of intentions.

With the Sun, Moon, Mercury and Venus in Libra this is one of the most favorable times to look at our relationships with others through objective eyes. The question we need to ask is, do we attract relationships in our lives that are vital and sustain us? or do we attract others into our lives that wound and devitalize us? Like the country singer Kenny Rodgers says, “ You have to know when to hold them and when to fold them”.

This is a powerful time to examine our relationship with ourselves. If we cannot love ourselves, value ourselves, certainly we’re not going to truly relate to another, understand their needs and love them. Libra needs to understand that self-love, self worth is something that’s internally generated and we don’t need to be dependent onfinding the significant other for personal fulfillment and happiness. Chinese proverb says “ He who looks to others for fulfillment, will never be fulfilled”.
With Libra there is a tendency of over identification with looking for someone or something outside of us to fulfill their most essential core needs.

The degree for the New Moon from Zodiacal symbology reads: A woman naked standing on a crescent moon, the stars glittering behind her in a sky of blue. Denotes an attractive person who is in danger of being held in the chains of sense and at the will of others. His nature is impulsive and artistic, restless and pleasure loving. His desires are strong and a very sensuous love of earth life. It is a symbol of Vacillation.

The astrological glyph for Libra represents the setting sun. The ancients thought it was an altar to the gods of light. Sunset is a sacred time to our people as the Elders tell us that when the sky begins to turn orange (sunset) this is when the doors to the spirit world are open. The veil between the two worlds are at their thinnest. This is when we begin the fire for the sacred sweat lodge ceremony and offer our prayers to the creator and our ancestors. Libra corresponds to the west point on the Medicine Wheel and is called the “looks within place” a point of reflection and healing.
The animal totem for the west point on the wheel is the Grizzly Bear who retreats into the darkness of its cave to renew and heal itself. The bear in most native cultures isoften associated with healing.

Mars enters Leo on the 16th and stays there until June 2010 because of its retrograde cycle beginning on December 20,2009. The warrior (Mars) bows before the King (Leo) and offers a new strategy of attack. Mars retrograde in any fire sign suggests a Slow Burn!

 OCTOBER ASTROLOGICAL PREDICTIONS ~ Featuring Libra

October kicks off with a Full (Harvest) Moon in Aries (Oct 3rd) bringing things to light and ushering in new beginnings!
Anticipate some big energy shifts mid-month; Mercury is now direct but we’re officially out of the shadow period on the 14th, the same day Venus (love & money) moves into Libra which it rules.  On the 12th Jupiter (luck, excess, & abundance) will switch to direct motion, hopefully improving our finances!  Mars (passion, anger, & ambition) enters Leo on the 16th ~ a better place to express itself, rather than moody Cancer. 
When the Sun moves into Scorpio on the 23rd, retrograde Uranus (the unconventional, the unexpected, & electric) will begin a friendly aspect to the North Node, ruler of our true fate.  Our immediate destiny may be connected to a pleasant surprise the last part of October!?
And finally on the 29th, after 2 long years, Saturn will leave Virgo & enter Libra which we’ll discuss next month ?

LIBRA

Happy Solar Return to the most charming, lovable, and indecisive sign of the Zodiac!  Last year likely focused on creative and romantic endeavors bringing out the child in you.  This year, and next, will be more sobering as Saturn moves into your sign.  Do not waste time fearing.  Saturn is linked to fate as well as karma.  Events can happen that will change your life forever!

On top of your agenda should be your health and physical appearance.  Perhaps it’s time for a diet?  Saturn is excellent for weight loss and can offer you just the discipline you need.  It can help you streamline ANY area of your life through hard work and determination!
Combined with another series of celestial cycles over the next two years, you can expect some major relationship events.  It’s make or break time.  If a long term partnership is dying, let it go because this is a period when you could meet a soul mate!  Saturn solidifies commitments too.
An element of deception still surrounds your romance sector especially when it has ties to the past.  You can expect good fortune the last half of October into 2010!
Major transformation remains around the home, immediate family, real estate matters, and within your most private self.  Dig deep and rise to the challenges for it will shape the person you’re meant to become!
Anxiety around your career should cease mid month although arguments may arise due to your increased ambition.  The uncertainty of your life path will persist into your next year.  Try to let go of old habits.  Keep your focus closer to home.
Encourage children in their artistic endeavors, especially if they’re following in your footsteps.  They may seem like they’re in a dream world.  Communicate and educate using your own creativity!  Things will start to turn around for them mid-month.  Sometimes the best way to hold on is with an open hand…
The last half of October really has you shining!!  Your focus may switch towards your finances but make sure to enjoy your time in the spot light!
