Mercury appears retrograde 3 times a year for approximately 3 weeks at a time. Here’s the kicker ~ I attach a 3 week shadow on each side making it a 9 week period altogether.
Not all of Mercury retrograde is negative, though. Yes, cell phones and computers can get glitchy; the light can come on in your car and you take it to the mechanic and nothing is wrong with it. ( I always tell people, unless it’s the break light or something important, wait until after the retrograde to get it checked because it just might fix itself!)� Anything with communication and transportation can go haywire and if you’re a Gemini or a Virgo, ruled by Mercury, it can be even more frustrating.�
You must really be careful of what you say and how you say it.� Words can be misconstrued.� It’s also a bad time to start anything new or sign important contracts or documents.� The exception can be someone who is born with Mercury retrograde�~ it does not affect them as much.� So what can possibly be positive?� Lots!� Mercury retrograde is an excellent time to contact or hear from people from your past!� Rather than solicit new clients, return to your sphere of influence.� Reach out to someone you need to REconcile with.� It’s an awesome time to REconnect.� Go back and FINISH old projects so when the retrograde period is over you can begin new endeavors with a clean slate.� It’s not the best time to get married but how about REmarried?� Rather than plan a trip to some place new, why not REvisit a favorite destination? Different people have different opinions on traveling while Mercury is retrograde.� If it can be avoided, it probably should.� Some plans may have to be REscheduled.� It’s almost impossible to hook up with new people but an excellent time to get together with old friends or plan a REunion!� Just about anything you can put “RE” in front of works.� Refurbish, redo, reconnect etc.� The one exception can be remodeling.� If it’s your first time doing it and contracts are involved, try and wait until after.� Things will have to be REdone!�
Don’t go to a new agency, partner, or job if you can help it.� Try to connect new endeavors with the past if that makes sense.� Also, if you’ve had a dilemma you may now suddenly have an epiphany.� If you’ve been waiting for something or someone to arrive it could happen now!�
We all have the ability to focus on the positive and make the most of trying situations.� Use your energy wisely and constructively.� Rather than branching out in new directions, go down a tried and true path.� Be patient and really cautious with the words you choose and use.� Drive extra carefully. Take time to REview.� Think before you take action as your mind (Mercury) could be playing tricks on you!� Stay as focused as possible and don’t let it run your life.� Did Mercury retrograde bother you BEFORE you knew about it?� We must deal with the past before we head into the future!�� ���

Retrograde ~ Natal, Transiting or Progressed
–Having to do with redoing; repressing & internalizing. More significant if ruler of the Sun, possibly even the Moon & Ascendant. If ruler of the Sun is natally retrograde it can create a very self absorbed/oriented person.
Mercury - rethinking, redoing;
Natal- an acute mind, very detail oriented-perhaps over analyzing or looking for more than what’s there; possible dyslexia; may be speech delayed or have trouble writing or speaking (stuttering)- at least at an early age; may repeat things in order to be understood
Transit - bad time to sign contracts or documents as it will probably have to be ‘re done’ meaning that problems could arise; cars, computers, cell phones - all communication & transportation devices ‘act up’; good time to finish old tasks (redo); hear from or contact people from your past
Venus - repressing love or affection; may internalize love/social urges
Natal- perhaps socially introverted; repress feelings or hold back affection (remember, what you don’t manifest you attract. You have to own that energy, so you could attract a partner who has these qualities) Love of Self?
Transit- can be re aquainting with past lovers or good friends; going over old relationship issues; possible reversed luck since Venus is considered a benefic
Also, going over financial affairs
Mars- reusing one’s energy; easily frustrated
Natal- prone to doing things over & over before a sense of accomplishment is achieved- either self defeating OR practice makes perfect, ie: Michael Jordan. Hates direct confrontation; passion is ‘toned down’; Can misappropriate energy or lack of ambition. Internalize anger/aggression- could be good for sports.
Transit- repressed anger; irritability; self destructive behavior? Rehashing old disputes
Jupiter - holding in optimism; restricting luck or luck comes later
Natal - reevaluate your faith & trust in people ; questioning your belief system OR keep your beliefs or your Faith to yourself ; possible self confidence issues- weight gain? internally or overly optimistic as opposed to gregarious; can be very philosophic; may never reach the ultimate goal-just short of luck or it comes later in life
Transit - reversed luck? Bad time to gamble unless you’re born with it retrograde;; good time to reevaluate your belief system & check your conscience!
Saturn - very heavy burden; can be repressed negativity leading to fear/anxiety/frustration; possible health problems depending on aspects & house location; extreme passivity?
Natal - repressed ambition or reevaluating goals; evaluation of self in reference to societies expectations/ approval- status issues. Father doesn’t usually play a large role in persons life or has trouble expressing affection -may even be absent for most of the life
Transit- hardships including health problems; working harder to achieve same results; good time to reestablish goals/formulate a new plan; good time to rebuild or restructure
Most people are born with at least one of the outer planets retrograde . Their affects are felt more globally in view of world events and it’s important to note when they station.
