New Moons are times of new beginnings, planting seeds, and setting intentions. This month the Sun, Moon, Chiron, and Neptune all conjunct Neptune’s discovery degree. The planet Neptune was discovered on September 23, 1846 at 25 degrees of Aquarius. The call for compassionate service, understanding, and unity becomes even more important. Mythologist Joseph Campbell said “Survival is the second law of life, the first is we are all one”. Let us invite the healing dance between Chiron and Neptune into our medicine bundle.

This New Moon, along with Chiron and Neptune, all activate the U.S. Moon in the Sibly chart. For many, the ideal of the American dream seems to be eroding or more elusive than ever. With the alarming rise in home foreclosures, inaccessibility to health care and the current credit crisis, the once held ideal and value of the American dream has turned into a nightmare. The New Moon is in opposition to Obama’s natal Uranus at 25 degrees of Leo! This clearly suggests that President Obama needs to make a radical shift with many of his current policies. The progressive wing of the Democratic party feels abandoned and betrayed by his promise to bring real change to Washington. His aloofness and detachment (Aquarius) in the health care debate left many in a
state of shock and disillusionment.

The degree for this New Moon from Zodiacal Symbology reads: Three fires blazing above three triangular hills, a cross sword floating above. Denotes one of mystic and reformative leanings who may be impressed by invisible forces for certain work on earth, but who may not be conscious of the part he is called to play. Venus conjuncts Jupiter in Pisces from the 14-16th (Valentine’s Day) offering blessings from the love goddess. A most favorable time for expanding social circles, spiritual pursuits, and financial generosity. Faith and trust brings fulfilling relationships. It’s a good time to make amends with someone you love.

Mars retrograde since December 20, 2009, goes direct (forward) on March 10, 2010. Mars turns retrograde only once about every two years. The Mars retrograde cycle is symbolic of the warrior laying down his sword in order to re-group before the next battle. In Mars retrograde we tend to think about ways of acting rather than pushing forward. Personal concerns and issues are always on a slow-burn during Mars retrograde periods. As Mars moves direct the warrior picks up his sword with a renewed sense of confidence and courage. Facing things direct and head on rather than through deflection becomes his new battle strategy. With Obama’s Sun in Leo and Mars moving direct, we hope he will regain a new sense of courage and act like a lion not a lamb!

Transiting Saturn in Libra conjuncts the Midheaven and squares Venus in the Sibly chart for the U.S.A. The major corporate banks continue to withhold lending to the public and with small businesses. There has been a movement to move money out of the giant corporate banks into community banks. The issues of fairness and equality (Saturn in Libra) begin to re-emerge toward the government’s policy of ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’ which is code for not letting gays, lesbians, or bisexuals from serving in the military. On January 21 the Supreme Court announces a landmark decision, establishing for the first time that corporations (Saturn) enjoy the same First Amendment free-speech rights (Libra) as individuals.

With the square between Saturn and Pluto on January 31, the CIA issues a warning that Al-Qaeda will attempt an attack on U.S. Soil in the next 3-6 months. This comes as no real surprise to most astrologers as the last Saturn/Pluto Square was back in 1993 which coincided with the first World Trade Center bombing. The opposition between Saturn/Pluto was back on that fateful day of September 11, 2001~ the second bombing and final death knell of the World Trade Center. Indeed, to be forewarned is to be forearmed!

New Moons are times of new beginnings, planting new seeds, and setting intentions. This is one of the more powerful lunations for the New Year as a partial Solar Eclipse. In general, eclipses are a New Moon or Full Moon on steroids and always carry an extra punch! Eclipses are like “Wild Cards” in the deck of life often signaling endings and new beginnings. More importantly they are harbingers of illumination and new revelations.

With the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Pluto, and the north node in Capricorn, this is a most favorable time to solidify new opportunities with our career and business plans. Capricorn is a sign of ascension, as it wants to scale mountains and reach the summit of life. This New Moon conjuncts Venus, helping us take responsibility and value commitment within our important relationships. Venus in Capricorn always demands respect! The last solar eclipse at this degree was back in January of 1991! What was going on in your life then? What’s happening in your life now?

One of the mythic archetypes for Capricorn is the myth of Hephaestus. He was the unloved and unwanted son of Zeus and Hera. Because he was born disfigured with a clubfoot they threw him off Olympus to die. He was adopted and raised by two sea nymphs, Thetis and Eurynome who nurtured him for nine years but still felt his rejection and woundedness keenly. Hephaestus learned to be a craftsman making beautiful jewelry for his adoptive parents. He also built the palaces for the Olympians, created Zeus’s thunderbolts, and built the winged chariot for Apollo, God of the sun. Hephaestus became the great artisan of the Olympians. The myth of Hephaestus is symbolic of the wounded artist archetype.

The Sabian Symbol for this New Moon at 26 Capricorn reads: A nature spirit dancing in the iridescent mist of a waterfall. Keynote: The ability to perceive the hidden and creative spirit of natural phenomena. Mercury begins to move forward on the 15th and conjuncts Pluto. It’s time to move ahead with new ideas and plans that were on the back burner. Never underestimate the power of words! Crystallized thinking brings results. Mercury crosses its shadow point on February 3-4 at 21 degrees of Capricorn.

Fiery Mars is retrograde until March 10 when he moves forward in motion and stays in Leo until June 6. Mars retrograde is not the best time to initiate new projects or take definitive action. This is a good time to re-ignite our creative fires through confident resolve. Find the courage within to allow you to become immersed in a slow burn of creative incubation. Mars retrograde conjuncts President Obama’s descendant as he meets with stiff opposition from many sources. When Mars moves into Virgo on June 7th, he can gain strength and get his Mojo back!

On December 30th the nephew of Iranian opposition leader Mir Hossein Mousavi was assassinated. Ali Mousavi was one of at least eight people killed during clashes when tens of thousands of supporters protested against their government. Mars was crossing the ascendant, and transiting Uranus (freedom, revolution) was conjunct Mars (violence) in the Iranian chart. Much has been written about Mars retrograde cycles coinciding with major conflicts and wars.

Saturn turns retrograde in Libra on Jan. 13th and will move back to square Pluto in Capricorn. Issues with career, relationships, and health will be in high focus. It’s a good time to let go of old attachments that no longer serve our quest for wholeness. Power and control issues need to be transformed through compromise and equality in relationships. Transiting Pluto and Saturn aspecting Venus (money, possessions) in the USA chart, form a powerful T square pattern indicating the financial meltdown crisis (Pluto) will endure for at least another 12-? months. This is a call for strategic financial planning for everyone. No one plans to fail, they just fail to plan! Saturn/Pluto cycles historically are times of conservative, reactionary empowerment. The reverent work of beauty is the antidote to fear!

Jupiter makes its ingress into Pisces on Jan. 17th ~ Time to dream big! One of the first signs of soul loss is the loss of imagination. Jupiter, the planet of growth, abundance, and wisdom, indicates the yearning for greater spiritual and religious understanding. The best Jupiter in Pisces has to offer is to improve religious tolerance. The worst is the rise of religious intolerance through fundamentalism and fanaticism. Generally speaking this should be a better year for charitable groups and organizations that have been decimated by the economic downturn. On a mundane level look for the rise of fish oil to explode! Jupiter works on a twelve-year cycle. The last time Jupiter was in Pisces was back in 1998. Some of the major news stories from back then: the US announced the first budget surplus (Jupiter) in 30 years. The Belfast agreement was signed between the Irish and British governments. President Bill Clinton was impeached for perjury. Exxon and Mobil merged to become the largest petroleum corporation in the world. Windows98 and Google made their splash on the world market. Jupiter in Pisces asks us to honor the sacred and divine in our life not with blind faith, but through devotion and setting of sacred intention. Only then do the Gods and Goddesses know that we’re asking for help through prayer, ceremony, ritual and intention!

Neptune conjuncts the U.S. Moon on Jan. 27th, its final hit in this cycle. The Moon rules the Public and Neptune represents disillusionment. Many promises made by the politicians during the presidential campaign such as universal health care and ending the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan turned out to be nothing but a pipe dream. Public and political scandals continue to dominate the news media. The plight of the homeless continues to escalate at alarming rates. On any given night in America, anywhere from 700,000 to 2 million people are homeless, according to estimates of the National Law Center on Homelessness. The gap between income and housing costs needs to be lessened so people can keep their homes. We need more quality jobs with benefits that offer a living wage, rather than a lot of dead-end jobs that pay minimum wage. Let us all hope and pray for the end of predatory capitalism and awaken to a new humanitarian, compassionate social democracy.

The Moon in Scorpio is sort of like going on a blind date only to discover that your partner is Ereskigal, the ancient Sumerian goddess of darkness and the underworld. It was a goddess, not a god who ruled the underworld. Ereskigal is a much earlier form of Pluto. It is Ereskigal (Pluto) who strips us bare to the bone and of everything which has given us an identity is taken away, and leaves us for dead. It was Carl Jung who said “We discover what truly supports us when that which we thought supported us is taken away. We find out there is a part of us still there, a part that is indestructible and eternal.

Healing rituals with the Moon in Scorpio are about working in the dark. The wounded animal withdrawals into the stillness of the dark empty cave in order to heal itself. Likewise, the psyche (soul) requires that we go down into the depths of the unconscious
in order to heal the soul. The invisible world would like to help, but spiritual etiquette requires that we ask first! Only then do the god and goddesses know where asking for help is through ritual, ceremony and intention. That which isn’t ritualized becomes literalized.

structures in our work or relationships will be put to the test. Too many demands from our partner or others could prove to be contentious at this time. Compromise is the operative word for Libra, not peace at any price.

Both Saturn and Pluto are also in aspect to the U.S.Venus (Cancer) in the Sibily chart, indicating a slow, steady, but cautious growth on the economic front. This signature also suggests intense diplomatic efforts in regulating our financial markets and
institutions. Progressed Venus in Aries conjunct Chiron in the Sibily chart in the 4th house. The housing and mortgage crisis continues to be a deep wound on the national psyche. Tens of thousands of families continue to feel abandoned and betrayed by their banks and financial lenders. Like Chiron who was well adept at the art of survival skills, so to will thousands of American families facing mortgage foreclosures and bankruptcies.

Uranus makes its station and moves direct on December 1, 2009 at 23 degrees of Pisces. Uranus stations are like sticking your finger into a wall socket as he ups our amps from 110 to 220! Since Uranus is the cosmic electrician he will either produce a power surge, or if not properly grounded will short-circuit our efforts and blow a fuse. The intent of Uranus is to produce change and those who are resistant to change (fixed signs, earth signs) will generally have a difficult times breaking old patterns and
routines. It is absolutely vital to approach things with an open hand and especially with an open mind! Uranus is often called the Awakener. Uranus’s sojourn through Pisces has helped many awaken out of their spiritual amnesia.

Saturn in Libra exactly conjuncts the MC in the Sibily chart for the United States. The pressures on the president are enormous. In the eyes of many the president is perceived as being too politically passive (Libra?) and lacks the courage to implement real
change. In last months newsletter I mentioned the last time Saturn made its ingress into Libra was on September 22,1980 the very day Iraq invaded Iran. There was the assassination attempt on president Reagan back in March of 1981. Abraham Lincoln was killed and the United States was enmeshed in a Civil war back in 1862. Saturn will make its return to its natal position in the Sibily chart come next November just in time for the general elections of 2010? Could this be a harbinger of things to come such as a strong conservative (Saturn) turn out? Or, will the Jupiter/Uranus conjunction in Pisces prevail? Historically Jupiter/Uranus cycles are times of new scientific breakthroughs and discoveries. These are also times historically that coincide with Liberal and progressive empowerment. We shall see?

With the Sun, Moon, Mercury and Venus in Libra this is one of the most favorable times to look at our relationships with others through objective eyes. The question we need to ask is, do we attract relationships in our lives that are vital and sustain us? or do we attract others into our lives that wound and devitalize us? Like the country singer Kenny Rodgers says, � You have to know when to hold them and when to fold them�.

This is a powerful time to examine our relationship with ourselves. If we cannot love ourselves, value ourselves, certainly we�re not going to truly relate to another, understand their needs and love them. Libra needs to understand that self-love, self worth is something that�s internally generated and we don�t need to be dependent onfinding the significant other for personal fulfillment and happiness. Chinese proverb says � He who looks to others for fulfillment, will never be fulfilled�.
With Libra there is a tendency of over identification with looking for someone or something outside of us to fulfill their most essential core needs.

The degree for the New Moon from Zodiacal symbology reads: A woman naked standing on a crescent moon, the stars glittering behind her in a sky of blue. Denotes an attractive person who is in danger of being held in the chains of sense and at the will of others. His nature is impulsive and artistic, restless and pleasure loving. His desires are strong and a very sensuous love of earth life. It is a symbol of Vacillation.

The astrological glyph for Libra represents the setting sun. The ancients thought it was an altar to the gods of light. Sunset is a sacred time to our people as the Elders tell us that when the sky begins to turn orange (sunset) this is when the doors to the spirit world are open. The veil between the two worlds are at their thinnest. This is when we begin the fire for the sacred sweat lodge ceremony and offer our prayers to the creator and our ancestors. Libra corresponds to the west point on the Medicine Wheel and is called the �looks within place� a point of reflection and healing.
The animal totem for the west point on the wheel is the Grizzly Bear who retreats into the darkness of its cave to renew and heal itself. The bear in most native cultures isoften associated with healing.

Mars enters Leo on the 16th and stays there until June 2010 because of its retrograde cycle beginning on December 20,2009. The warrior (Mars) bows before the King (Leo) and offers a new strategy of attack. Mars retrograde in any fire sign suggests a Slow Burn!

Saturn makes its ingress into Libra on October 29th, 2009. The last time Saturn visited Libra was back in September 22,1980 the very day Iraq invaded Iran! Believe it or not Libra is a sign of war and conflict despite its association with peace, cooperation and
harmony. Some other interesting events that occurred during Saturn�s last transit in Libra was John Lennon was shot dead on December 8, 1980, The assassination attempt on president Reagan in March 1981 and Israel bombs Iraq nuclear plant on July 7, 1981.
Recently, we all heard the rumors of Israel wanting to take out Iran�s nuclear facilities if open discussion and negotiations fail to produce conciliatory results. Let us all hope that peace, diplomacy and cooperation become the reality.

On a personal level Saturn in Libra suggests the need to redefine, reevaluate our commitment within existing relationships. Saturn will show you how to build on what�s working in your present relationships and to cut off what�s not working. Time for a reality check!

Saturn is returning to its natal place in the Sibily chart for the United States on October 29,2009. President Obama continues to build new bridges with the world community through the art of diplomacy, reconciliation and cooperation. Equal rights, Gay rights, Animal rights all take center stage and come into high focus. Important judicial appointments will be made during Saturn�s sojourn in Libra.

Jupiter turned direct on October 12 and is still in the company of Chiron and Neptune in Aquarius. The hope and promise of compassionate universal health care still echoes loudly with the collective community. One of the down sides of Jupiter is it can

Major shift of gears on November 15 as Saturn in Libra squares Pluto in Capricorn. The threat of terrorism could emerge from the dark underworld. Old structures, businesses and governments are torn down in order to give birth to the new. Many things that gave us a sense of security or comfort in the past are no longer viable at this time. This is a time of release and letting go of what�s not working inour lives. Give it up! Pluto always takes something away before he leaves us with his gifts.

This is the best New Moon to take greater responsibility for our health physically, emotionally and spiritually. Its time to get serious about dietary changes, exercise routines and addressing medical issues we�ve been either denying, or putting off. Saturn is about commitment and Virgo represents the body. This is the right time to deal with our �inner critic� and attachment to perfectionism. There�s an indigenous saying that goes, is the good, true and beautiful in my nature as strong as the whispers of my demons and monsters?� We must answer yes to that on a daily basis.

This New Moon will energize the third of five oppositions on September 15th between Saturn and Uranus. These cycles often coincide to political, social and economic changes. The last opposition cycle was in the mid-1960s when the Civil rights movement, Vietnam War, Anti-War protests and the emergence of the Hippie revolution took center stage. Those with late degrees of mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces) will feel it most intensely. Mercury, the ruler of Virgo squares Pluto on the 17th, suggesting that knowledge is power! Small issues can take on great importance. Your mind can probe beneath the surface. Secrets will be revealed.

The polarization between Saturn and Uranus becomes most visible during the town hall meetings on health care reform. We have those who are resistant (Saturn) to change, versus those who demand health care reform (Uranus). President Obama�s speech on September 9th will in many ways define his presidency. If he does not come out in favor for a strong public option he will lose the support of the progressives and unions who vow not to vote in the 2010 elections. This would be a huge victory for the right wing and the insurance industry. This seems to be a likely scenario in which case Obama will become one and done as president of the United States.

On September 19th, Mars conjuncts the lunar eclipse degree at 15 degrees of Cancer. Mars is only one degree plus off the Sun in Cancer, and square Saturn in Libra in the Sibily chart (USA). Heated debates, disruptions, fights and clashes with authority will continue at local town hall meetings over health care reform. The potential for domestic terrorism is a real threat. The president needs to be even more diligent over personal security issues; especially in light of gun advocates (Mars) carrying loaded firearms to town hall meetings. To be forewarned is forearmed!

The Sun, Moon Saturn in Virgo along with Jupiter, Chiron, Neptune in Aquarius the call for service resonates with us all. Be it service to our community, group, tribe, or extended social family. This is the medicine required to help restore our inter-connectedness with our universal and global family. Since Leo is ruled by the Sun they need to shine, to show off and most of all they need to feel special. This is one of the best New Moons to look for love and romance. However, it�s important that you set intentions to which you love and how you want to be loved? We need to bless those who challenge us to love more fully, for they are great teachers who show us when we are open hearted or close hearted. The Sufi�s tell us the greatest remorse we can ever experience is love unexpressed. When you keep your heart locked, closed, over protected, you can never free yourself from the cocoon and enjoy the freedom of the butterfly.

My favorite Solar myths for the Leo archetype are the Arthurian Grail legends, which are essentially stories of wounding and healing. The story of Parsifal and the wounded king who is wounded in the groin (this is before viagra) and the kingdom becomes barren and nothing is allowed to grow. It�s not until Parsifal (inner fool) goes on a quest to discover a magical vessel of healing and plenty- the Grail. The king is not a king, who has been injured and recovering, he is the �wounded king�. This is an identity of loss and disempowerment.

The healing finally takes place through the asking of a question, which sets into motion not only the healing of the king, but also the land. The quest for the grail is really about a quest for healing, renewal and recovery. In the words of the coyote trickster astrologer Caroline Casey, at the heart of all great cultures is the heroic task to restore the healing waters of life. Remember, that a myth is something that never happened, but is always happening!

This New Moon illuminates the opposition to the triple conjunction between Jupiter, Chiron and Neptune in Aquarius. We are called on to open our hearts to serve others rather than just ourselves through cooperative, community and collective participation. To exercise our personal will (Leo) for the good of others and the world (Aquarius). This New Moon is the fourth of five �Crisis Moons� this year, when the Moon is at its (perigee) closest to the earth. The degree for this New Moon from Zodiacal Symbology reads: A stream of oil falling from mid-air upon the troubled waters beneath. Denotes one with a peculiar magnetic aura enables him to bring quarreling units to a peaceful union. It is a symbol of Conciliation.

The Sun makes its ingress into Virgo on the 22nd, which affords us the new opportunity to open our celestial toolbox and put our creativity, inspiration and heart into our work. The Sufi Mystic Rumi says it best �Let what you love be what you do�. Mars squares Mercury in Cancer/Libra respectively on the 25th denote your mind and mouth are moving to fast to consider the wounding of what to say to others. Killing me softly with your words! Think twice before speaking. Mercury goes retrograde in Libra on the 6th. Time to review, reflect and reassess your relationship commitments. New information will be revealed as Mercury moves forward on the 29th.

Pluto packs his punch on September 11th (yikes) as he makes his station at 0 degree (critical degree) of Capricorn. Pluto stations are extremely powerful as the first World Trade Center bombing and the Oklahoma City bombing both occurred during a Pluto station. On a personal level Pluto can lend power to whatever it touches, or it can devour or disempower. Pluto tears things down to build them back up stronger than before. Pluto in Capricorn (Corporations, Big Business) we are witnessing the death (Pluto) of corporate capitalism as we have know it in the past. We cannot avoid using power, so let us learn to love more powerfully!

On September 15th Saturn and Uranus make their third out of five exact oppositions between these heavy hitters. Here we have the old clashes with the new, tradition versus change, conservative versus progressive. We can see the intense polarization every day on the evening news especially around issue of health care reform. Major insurance companies and big Pharma have funded right wing extremist (Tea Bagers, Birthers) to disrupt sincere discussion about health care reform at town hall meetings. These tactics mirrors the Nazi�s brown shirts that disrupted town hall meetings at beer gardens in Germany back in the 1930�s.

The encouraging news that was announced today is the AFL-CIO union groups has promised to directly to engage with boisterous conservative protesters at Democratic town hall meetings during the August recess. The vote is expected on September 15th, which is of course the day of the exact opposition between Saturn (conservative) and Uranus (progressive). A big time donnybrook smack down between conservative groups and unions should make for an August full of fireworks.

New Moons are times of new beginnings, planting new seeds and of setting intentions. We are all familiar with the sign Cancer associated with the crab. However, my premise is that many of the attributes and meaning of the signs come from smaller star groups that surround the major constellations of the zodiac. Therefore, the meaning for the sign Cancer actually derives from the bear. Directly below the constellation of the crab is the constellation Ursa Major, the Great Bear.

The qualities and principles associated with Cancer such as nurturing, mothering and care taking comes from characteristics of the bear rather than the crab? Consider how the bear is about protection, nesting, maternal and loves food. Once again, the point I want to drive home is to understand that the meaning of the signs in the zodiac are influenced by other star groups and constellations near the region of the major constellations of the zodiac.

This New Moon is the second �Crisis Moon� of 2009 and the most powerful occurring so close to the Summer Solstice. The Crisis Moon is when the Moon is near its perigee (closest to earth) emotional and domestic issues become more intensified especially with the Moon in it�s own sign, Cancer. It�s not uncommon for those with the sign Cancer, the Moon, or 4th house strongly activated in their charts to be susceptible to Lunar Burnout! This is a form of a breakdown that happens when you�re called on to nurture others too much, for too long and you�re not doing enough to nurture and care for yourself. People who suppress or refuse to honor their own essential core needs, and subordinate their needs for the needs of others, are those who wind up emotionally burned out (Moon).� Cancer�s never know when to cut the cord and stop trying to nurture the world.

Cancer is a sign related to emotional memory. Cancer�s often think about the hurt or wounds of the past, rather than focusing on the joy of recovery. Holding on and clinging to the past is Cancer�s way of staying stuck in the womb, of self-preservation. The Sabian Symbol for the New Moon reads: A MAN ON A MAGIC CARPET HOVERING OVER A LARGE AREA OF LAND. Keynote: The ability to expand one�s consciousness by stabilizing one�s point of view at a higher level.
This is one of the best New Moon�s to work on home improvements or repairs. We can simply enhance our home life by spending quality time with family members and those we love. This is a favorable time to let go of old defensive mechanisms that could be detrimental to your emotional well-being and relationships with others. Learn to let go of old attachments and codependency that no longer serve you. Cancer is the sign of the home and family and unless you have a home that heals your spirit you will never heal!

This is one of the most challenging and intense New Moons of the year as it make a direct opposition to Pluto in Capricorn. Expect major changes and transformations in the area�s of the home, family, work, business and in the manufacturing and housing industry.

New beginnings and ending are the watchwords as old chapters in our lives come to a close, as that which supported us in the past is no longer viable. One of the most important lessons for Cancer�s is learning to let go of old attachments from the past. Pluto is a great attachment breaker and acts as a servant of wholeness.
The triple conjunction between Jupiter, Chiron, and Neptune continue, and are still in opposition to the asteroid Hygeia (goddess of medicine) in Sibily (USA) chart. Major health care reform is one of the most vital and contentious issues of the day. Jupiter turned retrograde on the 15th and will remain there until October 13th. Jupiter retrograde cycles are not the most conducive times to initiate big plans or objectives. On a personal level Jupiter retrograde will reveal inner truths and wisdom. Honor the inner teacher!
Jupiter, Chiron, and Neptune are still activating the Moon in Aquarius (masses) in the Sibily chart as we all prepare for a sea of change. The longing for a new American dream, a new vision is afoot! Venus and Mars reunite the week on the 15th after a two-month separation, both in the sign Taurus. Relationships of all kinds are energized and revitalized. This is an excellent time to cultivate our inner garden through sensuality, sexuality and pleasure. Saturn conjuncts Ceres in Virgo ~ take care of business and review quality control. Good time for business and pleasure.

This New Moon also activates Venus (money) in the Sibily chart and both are in direct opposition to transiting Pluto in Capricorn. The current financial crisis is still under going life support. This opposition between Venus and Pluto I feel serves as a powerful metaphor of the horrendous murder of Dr.George Tiller who was a late term abortion provider. Venus in Cancer the sign of the womb meets Pluto the annihilator in control, authoritative Capricorn. Scott Roeder the person accused of murdering Dr. Tiller has the Sun/Mercury conjunction in Pisces (martyr) both in opposition to his natal Pluto. On the day of the murder the triple conjunction in Aquarius between Jupiter. Chiron and Neptune (the wound of religious fanaticism) were squaring his natal Moon in Taurus. One of the comments Mr.Roeder made during his preliminary hearing to the judge why is everyone treating me like a murderer? Mr. Roeder: de-nial is not just a river in Egypt.

The New Moon in Gemini nourishes us through mental curiosity, reading, writing, learning new information, and making connections. Mercury/Hermes ruler of Gemini is the messenger of the gods, and was the only god to travel between two worlds. He was also the protector of travelers and athletes. Gemini�s often feel like they travel between two worlds.

Mercury retrograde in Taurus helps to calm the mind from incessant chatter and frivolous gossip. Mercury moves forward (direct) on the 30th and re-enters Gemini on June 14th. Mercury/Hermes always carries a healing rod, the caduceus that reminds us of the healing and wounding powers of our words. Chose what you wish to communicate consciously and don�t become mired in toxic verbal sparring or abuse towards others.

The triple conjunction between Jupiter, Neptune and Chiron in Aquarius reflect the lines of communication are open to new truths, dreams and generous healing spirit. The last triple conjunction between these bodies was back in 1945 in Libra. Social change, reform, equal rights, and justice for all echo today the Aquarian ideal of cooperation, altruistic and humanitarian values. The expansive influence of Jupiter with Chiron can become a powerful aide to the healing process, while Neptune yearns for the ideal social setting by participating in groups, community and collective cooperation.

The Sabian symbol for the triple conjunction at 26 degrees 26 minutes of Aquarius reads: AN ANCIENT POTTERY BOWL FILLED WITH FRESH VIOLETS. The importance of traditional skills and artistic values deeply rooted in instinctive feelings. Violets have often been a symbol of modesty and humility. What I find interesting is this conjunction is conjunct Neptune�s discovery degree at 26 degrees of Aquarius! Neptune was first discovered on September 23, 1846 as America was undergoing radical social changes. The Mormons arrived in Salt Lake City, waves of Irish immigrants came to this country, the poets Thoreau, Emerson and Whitman came into prominence, and the Mexican War broke out. Come one full Neptune return cycle later and we have trouble with immigration and the Mexican border. Transiting Jupiter, Chiron and Neptune all conjunct the Moon in the Sibily chart (USA) and will have a dramatic effect on the American psyche and collective mood of the country. In the words of Richard Bach from his book �Illusions� Rarely do members of one�s true family share the same roof! Indeed, sometimes our �true family� is our friends, group, tribal or collective family.

Saturn goes direct in motion on May 16th. We can now move forward with our projects and plans that have been on the back burner. Good time to build bridges so that inner plans find ways for outer expression. If you had been feeling stuck in a rut since February you can gain new traction now and plow ahead with authority.

Health care reform is still a contentious issue with many Americans. Real health care reform of a single payer is completely off the table. Not only that but single payer advocates were never invited to the table with the big Pharmacy and insurance companies.

Just this week the A.H.A. American Hospitals Association made a call to all their CEO�s and informed them they never agreed with the new Obama policy to reduce their costs 1.5 percent each year for the next ten years. The triple conjunction of Jupiter, Chiron and Neptune are in opposition to the asteroid Hygeia (Goddess of health) in the Sibily chart.

A glimmer of hope could be the Jupiter/Uranus conjunction in Pisces Late 2010 for real expansive health care reform. Historically, Jupiter/Uranus cycles do coincide with liberal and progressive empowerment.

Chiron turns retrograde at the end of this month. Chiron with Jupiter can reveal painful truths. Often old wounds from the past may resurface at this time in order to heal, repair, fix and cleanse the lingering wound of the soul. Chiron in Aquarius offers healing on collective levels through addressing social injustice, poverty and hunger.

New Moons are times of new beginnings, planting new seeds and setting of intentions. This New Moon represents our connection with Mother Earth. This Month with the Sun, Moon, Mercury all in Taurus along with Saturn in Virgo and Pluto in Capricorn (earth signs) sets off the emergency alarm for �green consciousness�. Since Taurus is one of the oldest signs in the Zodiac it has a long affinity with the Earth, agriculture, land, nature and the environment.

The animal totem for Taurus is the Bull as the bull use to plow the fields to cultivate the land for the crops to grow. The glyph for Taurus symbolizes the head of the bull, the crescent moon on top of the circle (spirit). However, from a much older tradition the glyph for Taurus represents the fallopian tubes and the womb. This reaffirms Taurus as a sign associated with fertility and abundance.

This New Moon asks us to reflect on what gives us pleasure and what makes us feel rich or content. Anything that enchants and indulges the senses is a source of pleasure to Taurus. In fact, Taureans are never happier than when putting physical form into beauty. With Venus (creativity) as ruler of Taurus we find many in the creative arts such as pottery, sculpture, interior design or music. Many of these people find a deep sense of relaxation in just �doing�. Taurus rules not only our relationship with nature, but also with the physical body. Taurus is the most physical of all the signs and craves the need to touch, hold, hug and feel, including finding pleasure with your own body.

Taurus is a sign related to money and material resources. The reason why Taurus is associated with money and wealth is in ancient times the more cattle (bulls) you owned was a measure of your wealth. This is one of the best New Moons to focus on personal finances and material resources. Set financial goals that are practical and down to earth. Commit yourself to a budget and long term financial planning. Saturn in Virgo can help to repair our financial spending habits with discipline and responsibility. You may surprise yourself what can be generated by �Strategic plans� and become more conscious about frivolous spending.

Pluto made its station on April 4, 2009 and we have witnessed a dramatic increase in violent acts and mass murders. Pluto stations exude tremendous power and eruption. The first World Trade Center bombing in 1993 and the Oklahoma City bombing took place during a Pluto station. The horrific news from Binghamton New York where a crazed gunman senselessly killed 13 people.�In Pittsburgh a young budding white supremacist shoots and kills 3 policemen because he feared Obama was going to take his guns away. Pluto does rule paranoia! The following day in Tacoma, Washington a man kills his five children then himself because his wife was going to leave him for another man. Eruptions from the underworld indeed!

In other news North Korea broke the rules once more testing a rocket that could be used as a long-range missile. Italy was hit by a 6.3 powerful earthquake with over 200 dead, 1500 injured and tens of thousands homeless. Pluto will remain retrograde until it makes its station are you ready for this on 9/11 2009! Please watch and listen to the news like a hawk during this potentially volatile period.�

In the natal chart Pluto has to do with issues of power, control or powerlessness. We may feel we are losing control or there may be power struggles with others. The challenge is learn how to let go! We can�t control circumstances but we can control the choices we make. There are no rights or wrongs, only decisions and consequences.

Pluto is about empowerment. The best definition of empowerment that I�ve heard is Empowerment is recognizing what you need to do for yourself and doing it when others say you are being selfish. Your first priority is to �Take care of yourself�! When a situation is bad, your first responsibility is to get yourself out, to remove yourself from any toxic, negative situation whether this is a job, a relationship or an environment. You empower yourself by protecting yourself!

On April 13,Reuter�s news reported the rise of right-wing extremist in the United States. The increased polarization of the Saturn/Uranus opposition with the rebellious attitude of Uranus, against the established order of the Saturian(government) status quo. They�re gaining new recruits by exploiting fears about the economy, gun control and the election of the first black president. We just had the second hit of the cycle in February and headed into the third hit in September.

Chiron (wounded healer) conjuncts Neptune in Aquarius suggest healing emerges by restoring the lost sense of the sacred in our lives, by a call to sacrifice. To serve or suffer! Chiron/Neptune invites healing through imagination and dream incubations where intuition and faith act as guides on the sea of sightless navigation. Learn to trust your internal guidance system. Chiron/Neptune aspect can imply themes centered on the invisible wound. I prefer the clarity of the physical wound to the invisible blows and wounds of the spirit. Failure of the body is more acceptable than failure of the soul.

With transiting Saturn (shortages) in Virgo and the asteroid Ceres (goddess of grains) made its station in Virgo of the 15th of April, I read with horror from the Huffington Post that over 1500 farmers in India committees suicide after being driven into debt. The crop failures (Saturn/Ceres Virgo) were prompted by falling water levels. Nearby forest depletion and poorly planned government dam projects contributed to the falling water levels. Suicides by Indian farmers have been an on going reality for years. Combined with the vicious money-lending schemes that are prevalent in the region, many farmers felt that death was the only option in the face of insurmountable debt.I also read that this latest tragedy bears an uncomfortable resemblance to the problem in Australia�s agriculture sector, where many farmers are committing suicide in response to the severe drought, heat waves and wildfires that have been ravaging the country for years. It is estimated that one Australian farmer commits suicide every four days. The severe weather changes are a direct result of global warming. ???? (KF)

The raging Australian fires completely destroyed many homes and farms. People lost their loved ones, and their livelihoods and their beloved animals. Also lost to the fires is the enchanted forest and magical gardens of Bruno Tofts taking over 300 sculptures and painting. It�s devastating to think the beauty is lost forever. As the Shaman Martin Precthel says let�s learn to turn our grief into beauty.

These stories are a reminder that our personal wellness is inextricably linked to global wellness. We need to nurture Mother earth, and address the hierarchy of pollution, global warming, human rights, economies and wealth. With Earth Day approaching on April 22, 2009 (just prior to New Moon) let us set intentions, followed up by action, as Mars moves into Aries the same day, and how we can make the planet and the lives of our fellow human family healthier, wiser, prosperous and peaceful.

New Moons (every 4 weeks) usher in new beginnings.� Between the New & Full Moon is an excellent time to start things you want to manifest over the long run.� This is an especially powerful New Moon as it is tied into a Solar Eclipse!� It also has the added benefit of eclipsing Jupiter� ~ planet of luck, abundance, enthusiasm, good will, philanthropy, spirituality, and optimism.� This Eclipse is taking place in the ign of Aquarius which rules groups, friendships, humanity, hopes, goals, and wishes.� It�s associated with the collective spirit and favors unconventionality, new age thinking, enlightenment, and sometimes the unusual or even the bizarre.�� Aquarius would rule Government and UFO�s, so combine that with expansive Jupiter and it will be interesting to see what happens!!!
