While New Moons usher in new beginnings, Full Moons bring events to ‘a head’ or to fruition!
This Full Moon in LEO packs the power of an Eclipse and then opposes the planet Neptune, modern ruler of Pisces ~ in a nut shell ~ Party, Party, Party! Leo is after all the ‘party’ sign, loving a good time. It’s also the sign associated with ROMANCE! How appropriate for the month and week of Valentine’s Day?!
In addition, LEO rules children and creativity. You may be feeling extra childlike and your artistic abilities could be in overdrive!
This Full Moon Lunar Eclipse ties in the planet Neptune, ruler of ethereal beauty, art, music, Spirituality, water, illusion, deception, and addiction. It enhances the romanticism of LEO but can exacerbate any pre-existing issues.
Neptune’s biggest concern is boundaries ~ where and when to ‘draw the line’. It is a master of disguise and prone to denial. Combine this energy with the afore mentioned Eclipse in LEO and you may run into problems with taking actions too far. When it comes to love, Neptune can be the classic case of rose colored glasses. A Full Moon Eclipse in LEO can take your affections to a whole new level! Just make sure you’re seeing the person and situation clearly.
Eclipses often bring hidden things to light, so be careful what you try to hide with the Neptune influence because you could be exposed at a later date.
This Eclipse is affecting the “fixed” signs of Leo, Aquarius, Taurus, and Scorpio. If you have your Moon and/or Ascendant in any of these signs you’ll feel the energy too.
Eclipses necessitate change. For these 4 signs it’s make or break around relationships ~ either it’s time to commit or the fat lady is singing! Do you desire a soul-mate? Because an Eclipse (especially with Neptune) can bring one your way. But as they say….”Be careful what you wish for because you just might get what you want” lol! A move is in store or a big change around your residence. It’s best to remain as flexible as possible or you could experience health woes. Neptune makes illnesses hard to diagnose. So again, excess is not best.
Neptune is in the sign of Aquarius, ruler of the collective, friendships, hopes, and wishes. If you have been setting your goals and intentions, and playing within the boundary lines, you can expect rewards now, especially where others are concerned! If you’ve been naughty, you could get caught with your pants down.
This Eclipse, with Moon opposite Neptune, can create the most beautiful of illusions for us. The key to happiness is being able to distinguish between fantasy and reality! In the words of Aerosmith ~ DREAM ON!
Peace, Prosperity, Parties, Love, Lust, Light, and Valentines ~

New Moons (every 4 weeks) usher in new beginnings. Between the New & Full Moon is an excellent time to start things you want to manifest over the long run. This is an especially powerful New Moon as it is tied into a Solar Eclipse! It also has the added benefit of eclipsing Jupiter ~ planet of luck, abundance, enthusiasm, good will, philanthropy, spirituality, and optimism. This Eclipse is taking place in the ign of Aquarius which rules groups, friendships, humanity, hopes, goals, and wishes. It’s associated with the collective spirit and favors unconventionality, new age thinking, enlightenment, and sometimes the unusual or even the bizarre. Aquarius would rule Government and UFO’s, so combine that with expansive Jupiter and it will be interesting to see what happens!!!
Eclipses energize & influence a group of Signs. This Eclipse is affecting the “fixed” signs - Aquarius, Leo, Taurus, and Scorpio – just like the Eclipses in August last summer. If you have your Moon and/or Ascendant in any of these signs, you’ll feel the energy too. Look at what part of your chart these signs rule and expect activity in these areas.
Eclipses necessitate change, usually around the residence (moving) and relationships, and are known for bringing hidden things into the light. Unfortunately the fixed signs are the most resistant to change. That’s often why they get termed as stubborn. If you’re comfortable in your home, secure in your job, and are happy with the ‘status quo’ , I suggest you change something whether it’s your hair color, your drapes, or rearranging the furniture. If you are not adaptable the Universe will come in and create the change for you! This may feel like adversity. It’s better to remain as versatile as possible or you could even experience health setbacks. Jupiter in the configuration gives you a very positive outlook. (Doreen Virtue writes a good article about change in the January issue of L.V.’s IN LIGHT TIMES MAGAZINE – free).
Some good examples of Eclipse energy from the previous cycle in August:
- It’s revealed that John Edwards (the politician, not the Psychic) has a love child with someone who he ‘knocked up’ while his wife was battling cancer! - -Barack O’bama, A LEO, gets the Democratic nomination and becomes President! Now that’s putting some positive energy behind what you want to accomplish! And change in residence? Upon this Eclipse cycle he is inaugurated and moves into the White House
Also worthy of noting is this ~ If you aren’t in a relationship, an Eclipse cycle can definitely bring one your way!
In addition you could use this time to create a Manifestation Board. Go to Walmart and get a cheap corkboard. Put pictures up of things you would like to have or accomplish ~ that new Harley, a Mediterranean Cruise, your special someone, the beautiful home or new Lexus. Put a mirror on it so you can see yourself in the middle of everything you want to create for 2009! It doesn’t get much more powerful than this! SO … take this energy that is available to you to make huge, positive differences in your life!

Release your dreams to the Universe!
This eclipse hits Neptune before it hits the Moon. Neptune, co-ruler of Picses, is associated with many things. Negatively it is associated with depression/mental illness, and addiction ~ based on escapism/retreat from reality. It creates fantasy and idealism ~ think ‘rose colored glasses’.
It also rules the feet and is accociated with water ~ think King Neptune! It governs gases, oils, and chemicals of all kinds! Health issues are possible, especially with the ankles and feet. Caution should be excercised with water sports. Look for even more unusual weather patterns.
Positively, Neptune represents etherial beauty. Most Neptunians have that “X” factor or Star quality. It governs inate talent, especially with musicians, dancers, and artists.
It is a very compassionate Planet. Just like Pisces, Neptune has issues with boundaries. Where does water go but all over the place? It is accociated with sacrafice and Spirituality.
I think this eclipse will accentuate Neptune’s more positive qualities as both the Moon & Neptune are next to the North Node which guides our destiny! The full Moon, Neptune, and North Node, are all in the sign of Aquarius which rules humanity, friendship, goals, hopes, and wishes. As long as we choose to face universal circumstances realistically, and not succumb to Neptune’s seductive side, we can put forth measures that benefit the collective. Perhaps carpooling with friends or using mass transit options will be the result of the current gas crunch?! Maybe we’ll see some alternative changes made to our health care system? These are only a few of the possibilities.
The signs most likely to be affected by this Full Moon Lunar Eclipse are Leo, Aquarius, Taurus, and Scorpio. If your Moon or Ascendant is in one of these signs you may feel the effects more profoundly, too. Change is your saving grace. Expect the unexpected around relationships, career, home, family and real estate matters. Eclipses bring hidden things to light. If you have been living in the comforting fog of Neptune, this event could be a major eye-opener! Rest assured ~ the Universe is promting you to follow your life path.
This is an excellent opportunity to make a wish list for the next six months. Be really specific. Combine reality with fantasy and dream big! As long as your goals can somehow favor the greater and highest good of all, the sky will be the limit on what you can achieve!

Solar Eclipse Aug. 1 ~ 9 degrees Leo, Lunar Eclipse Aug. 16 ~ 24 degrees Aquarius
What does this mean? Well, the Eclipses are primarily affecting Leo, Aquarius, Taurus and Scorpio. If you have your Moon and/or Ascendant in any of these signs, you’ll feel the energy too. Look at what part of your chart these signs rule and expect activity in these areas.
Eclipses necessitate change. If you are not adaptable the Universe will come in and create the change for you! This may feel like adversity. It’s better to remain as versatile as possible.
Eclipses follow the path of the lunar nodes and always occur in two opposing signs for the better part of two years. Ie: Leo/Aquarius, Aries/Libra etc. I believe they affect all the signs in that modality thus creating a grand cross of energy.
Eclipses don’t have to be negative. How they affect you will be determined by how flexible you are. My experience has shown that those signs energized by the eclipses, usually experience change around relationships and the residence ~ most notably moving. Sometimes an eclipse on ones Sun or Moon can have an adverse effect on their health or those of their loved ones.
Take this energy that is available to you to manifest positive change in your life!
