New Moon in Aquarius, Feb. 13. Chinese New Year, Feb. 14 ~ The year of the (Metal) Tiger!
~ Take time to really think, then write down your goals and visions for 2010. Leave the door open for the Universe to provide for you in divine and perfect ways 
New Moons are times of new beginnings, planting seeds, and setting intentions. This month the Sun, Moon, Chiron, and Neptune all conjunct Neptune’s discovery degree. The planet Neptune was discovered on September 23, 1846 at 25 degrees of Aquarius. The call for compassionate service, understanding, and unity becomes even more important. Mythologist Joseph Campbell said “Survival is the second law of life, the first is we are all one”. Let us invite the healing dance between Chiron and Neptune into our medicine bundle.
This New Moon, along with Chiron and Neptune, all activate the U.S. Moon in the Sibly chart. For many, the ideal of the American dream seems to be eroding or more elusive than ever. With the alarming rise in home foreclosures, inaccessibility to health care and the current credit crisis, the once held ideal and value of the American dream has turned into a nightmare. The New Moon is in opposition to Obama’s natal Uranus at 25 degrees of Leo! This clearly suggests that President Obama needs to make a radical shift with many of his current policies. The progressive wing of the Democratic party feels abandoned and betrayed by his promise to bring real change to Washington. His aloofness and detachment (Aquarius) in the health care debate left many in a
state of shock and disillusionment.
The degree for this New Moon from Zodiacal Symbology reads: Three fires blazing above three triangular hills, a cross sword floating above. Denotes one of mystic and reformative leanings who may be impressed by invisible forces for certain work on earth, but who may not be conscious of the part he is called to play. Venus conjuncts Jupiter in Pisces from the 14-16th (Valentine’s Day) offering blessings from the love goddess. A most favorable time for expanding social circles, spiritual pursuits, and financial generosity. Faith and trust brings fulfilling relationships. It’s a good time to make amends with someone you love.
Mars retrograde since December 20, 2009, goes direct (forward) on March 10, 2010. Mars turns retrograde only once about every two years. The Mars retrograde cycle is symbolic of the warrior laying down his sword in order to re-group before the next battle. In Mars retrograde we tend to think about ways of acting rather than pushing forward. Personal concerns and issues are always on a slow-burn during Mars retrograde periods. As Mars moves direct the warrior picks up his sword with a renewed sense of confidence and courage. Facing things direct and head on rather than through deflection becomes his new battle strategy. With Obama’s Sun in Leo and Mars moving direct, we hope he will regain a new sense of courage and act like a lion not a lamb!

New Moon Solar Eclipse at 25 degrees Capricorn, January 15, 2010
New Moons are times of new beginnings, planting new seeds, and setting intentions. This is one of the more powerful lunations for the New Year as a partial Solar Eclipse. In general, eclipses are a New Moon or Full Moon on steroids and always carry an extra punch! Eclipses are like “Wild Cards” in the deck of life often signaling endings and new beginnings. More importantly they are harbingers of illumination and new revelations.
With the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Pluto, and the north node in Capricorn, this is a most favorable time to solidify new opportunities with our career and business plans. Capricorn is a sign of ascension, as it wants to scale mountains and reach the summit of life. This New Moon conjuncts Venus, helping us take responsibility and value commitment within our important relationships. Venus in Capricorn always demands respect! The last solar eclipse at this degree was back in January of 1991! What was going on in your life then? What’s happening in your life now?
One of the mythic archetypes for Capricorn is the myth of Hephaestus. He was the unloved and unwanted son of Zeus and Hera. Because he was born disfigured with a clubfoot they threw him off Olympus to die. He was adopted and raised by two sea nymphs, Thetis and Eurynome who nurtured him for nine years but still felt his rejection and woundedness keenly. Hephaestus learned to be a craftsman making beautiful jewelry for his adoptive parents. He also built the palaces for the Olympians, created Zeus’s thunderbolts, and built the winged chariot for Apollo, God of the sun. Hephaestus became the great artisan of the Olympians. The myth of Hephaestus is symbolic of the wounded artist archetype.
The Sabian Symbol for this New Moon at 26 Capricorn reads: A nature spirit dancing in the iridescent mist of a waterfall. Keynote: The ability to perceive the hidden and creative spirit of natural phenomena. Mercury begins to move forward on the 15th and conjuncts Pluto. It’s time to move ahead with new ideas and plans that were on the back burner. Never underestimate the power of words! Crystallized thinking brings results. Mercury crosses its shadow point on February 3-4 at 21 degrees of Capricorn.
Fiery Mars is retrograde until March 10 when he moves forward in motion and stays in Leo until June 6. Mars retrograde is not the best time to initiate new projects or take definitive action. This is a good time to re-ignite our creative fires through confident resolve. Find the courage within to allow you to become immersed in a slow burn of creative incubation. Mars retrograde conjuncts President Obama’s descendant as he meets with stiff opposition from many sources. When Mars moves into Virgo on June 7th, he can gain strength and get his Mojo back!

JANUARY ASTROLOGICAL PREDICTIONS ~ Featuring Capricorn

HAPPY NEW YEAR! Wow! What better way to start a new decade than with a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Cancer? Expect Real Estate, the Economy, Immigration, Homeland Security, Agriculture, Family Values and the Military to be hot topics! Our country has entered a 19 year cycle of karmic self growth. We’ll be learning a lot from History with our destiny linked to our allies.
How we feel entering into 2010 might change by January’s end due to lots of energy shifts mid-month.
Astro Activities:
Venus and the Sun enter Aquarius on the 18th and 19th respectively.
Jupiter moves into Pisces this year on January 17th where it’s at home.
Mercury goes direct on the 15th in Capricorn but consider its shadow until February 1st.
Saturn turns retrograde on the 13th in Libra continuing to square Pluto in Capricorn.
Mars remains retrograde in Leo.

Mercury appears retrograde 3 times a year for approximately 3 weeks at a time. Here’s the kicker ~ I attach a 3 week shadow on each side making it a 9 week period altogether.
Not all of Mercury retrograde is negative, though. Yes, cell phones and computers can get glitchy; the light can come on in your car and you take it to the mechanic and nothing is wrong with it. ( I always tell people, unless it’s the break light or something important, wait until after the retrograde to get it checked because it just might fix itself!) Anything with communication and transportation can go haywire and if you’re a Gemini or a Virgo, ruled by Mercury, it can be even more frustrating.
You must really be careful of what you say and how you say it. Words can be misconstrued. It’s also a bad time to start anything new or sign important contracts or documents. The exception can be someone who is born with Mercury retrograde ~ it does not affect them as much.
So what can possibly be positive? Lots! Mercury retrograde is an excellent time to contact or hear from people from your past! Rather than solicit new clients, return to your sphere of influence. Reach out to someone you need to REconcile with. It’s an awesome time to REconnect. Go back and FINISH old projects so when the retrograde period is over you can begin new endeavors with a clean slate. It’s not the best time to get married but how about REmarried? Rather than plan a trip to some place new, why not REvisit a favorite destination? Different people have different opinions on traveling while Mercury is retrograde. If it can be avoided, it probably should. Some plans may have to be REscheduled. It’s almost impossible to hook up with new people but an excellent time to get together with old friends or plan a REunion! Just about anything you can put “RE” in front of works. Refurbish, redo, reconnect etc. The one exception can be remodeling. If it’s your first time doing it and contracts are involved, try and wait until after. Things will have to be REdone.
Don’t go to a new agency, partner, or job if you can help it. Try to connect new endeavors with the past if that makes sense. Also, if you’ve had a dilemma you may now suddenly have an epiphany. If you’ve been waiting for something or someone to arrive it could happen now!
We all have the ability to focus on the positive and make the most of trying situations. Use your energy wisely and constructively. Rather than branching out in new directions, go down a tried and true path. Be patient and really cautious with the words you choose and use. Drive extra carefully. Take time to REview. Think before you take action as your mind (Mercury) could be playing tricks on you! Stay as focused as possible and don’t let it run your life. Did Mercury retrograde bother you BEFORE you knew about it? We must deal with the past before we head into the future!

Astrologers note: I use a solar chart beginning with 0 degrees of the Sun Sign on the Ascendant. I then use equal house cusps, following with the next sign ~ 2nd House 0 Aquarius and so forth.
I do the Solstice and Equinox charts from a mundane perspective. I like to look at how the chart might affect our nation over the next 3 months until the Spring Equinox. You can also apply the info personally.
On December the 21, the Sun will enter Capricorn at 0 degrees which marks the beginning of the Winter Solstice. At that point and over the next few days, the Sun will snuggle (conjunct) up with Pluto which entered Capricorn in November of 2008. Pluto is all about total transformation ~ destruction and resurrection! Capricorn represents Corporate America, Conservatism, and Capital. Upon Pluto’s entry into Capricorn we saw the downturn in the economy and the devastation of major corporations.
Not only are the Sun and Pluto together in the Winter Solstice chart, they are on the Ascendant! (Starting point/ruler of chart). I think this is when the ‘shit hits the fan’! Some have predicted that President O’Bama will face a crisis equivalent to 9/11/2001 very early into his administration and this could be it. What better time for a terrorist attack but on a Christian holiday?
In any case, the next 3 months will be about total change brought about by something equal to a major catastrophe. And that cataclysm may very well involve our country’s resources.
Chiron (wounds that need healing), Neptune (escapism), Jupiter (abundance, party on…) and the Moon (feelings, nurturing, real estate, home and family), are all tight (conjunct) in our private financial sector ruled by Aquarius (the unusual, unconventional, and unexpected). In lay mans terms I would say the economy is lot worse than we would like to believe and collectively there’s a large measure of denial and false hope. Neptune also rules gas and oil so look for gases prices to go up where they have remained pretty steady.
These planets fall directly opposite retrograde Mars (aggression, ambition, war) in the area of investments and collective resources. I feel a lot more money will be spent on the conflict overseas, continuing to deplete our own economy. We may also stir up opposition from those investing in our financial system. Mars is ruler of the real estate area so look for fallout from the foreclosure market to impact our finances too.
Saturn, the traditional ruler of Aquarius, sits in the very public 10th house. We will look to collectively rebuild and restructure through hard work and determination. Possibly working more for less money. Inflation is a very real possibility. Unfortunately Saturn is in a hard aspect to Sun/Pluto, making us face the hard core reality of our present circumstances.

New Moons are times of new beginnings, planting seeds and setting intentions. The Moon in Scorpio is related with all things deep, dark and mysterious. Scorpio is the sign of birth, death and renewal. This is one of the best New Moon’s to work on deep emotional healing by learning to release and let go of old attachments that no longer serve our needs. Repeat this affirmation: I will no longer serve that which does not serve me. This is not self-aggrandizement, not narcissism, it is service to the soul.
The Moon in Scorpio is sort of like going on a blind date only to discover that your partner is Ereskigal, the ancient Sumerian goddess of darkness and the underworld. It was a goddess, not a god who ruled the underworld. Ereskigal is a much earlier form of Pluto. It is Ereskigal (Pluto) who strips us bare to the bone and of everything which has given us an identity is taken away, and leaves us for dead. It was Carl Jung who said “We discover what truly supports us when that which we thought supported us is taken away. We find out there is a part of us still there, a part that is indestructible and eternal.
Healing rituals with the Moon in Scorpio are about working in the dark. The wounded animal withdrawals into the stillness of the dark empty cave in order to heal itself. Likewise, the psyche (soul) requires that we go down into the depths of the unconscious
in order to heal the soul. The invisible world would like to help, but spiritual etiquette requires that we ask first! Only then do the god and goddesses know where asking for help is through ritual, ceremony and intention. That which isn’t ritualized becomes literalized.

positive way we can work with this dynamic aspect is by clearing out the clutter in our life. This is a favorable time to clean out the closets, basement, attic or the garage. Let go of the unessential and what’s no longer needed or useful. Some important
structures in our work or relationships will be put to the test. Too many demands from our partner or others could prove to be contentious at this time. Compromise is the operative word for Libra, not peace at any price.
Both Saturn and Pluto are also in aspect to the U.S.Venus (Cancer) in the Sibily chart, indicating a slow, steady, but cautious growth on the economic front. This signature also suggests intense diplomatic efforts in regulating our financial markets and

After 2 long years in Virgo, Saturn has now entered Libra falling into a hard aspect with Pluto called a square. Squares pose challenges and both of these are difficult planets! Therefore, each sign will have 2 areas conflicting with each other which I will address.

SCORPIO
Happy Solar Return to the sexy, scrutinizing, and suspicious Scorpion/Eagle!
Expect a big vibrant birthday month with lots of socializing, looking and feeling great!

New Moons are times of new beginnings, planting new seeds and setting of intentions.
With the Sun, Moon, Mercury and Venus in Libra this is one of the most favorable times to look at our relationships with others through objective eyes. The question we need to ask is, do we attract relationships in our lives that are vital and sustain us? or do we attract others into our lives that wound and devitalize us? Like the country singer Kenny Rodgers says, You have to know when to hold them and when to fold them.
This is a powerful time to examine our relationship with ourselves. If we cannot love ourselves, value ourselves, certainly were not going to truly relate to another, understand their needs and love them. Libra needs to understand that self-love, self worth is something thats internally generated and we dont need to be dependent onfinding the significant other for personal fulfillment and happiness. Chinese proverb says He who looks to others for fulfillment, will never be fulfilled.
With Libra there is a tendency of over identification with looking for someone or something outside of us to fulfill their most essential core needs.

OCTOBER ASTROLOGICAL PREDICTIONS ~ Featuring Libra

October kicks off with a Full (Harvest) Moon in Aries (Oct 3rd) bringing things to light and ushering in new beginnings!
Anticipate some big energy shifts mid-month; Mercury is now direct but were officially out of the shadow period on the 14th, the same day Venus (love & money) moves into Libra which it rules. On the 12th Jupiter (luck, excess, & abundance) will switch to direct motion, hopefully improving our finances! Mars (passion, anger, & ambition) enters Leo on the 16th ~ a better place to express itself, rather than moody Cancer.
When the Sun moves into Scorpio on the 23rd, retrograde Uranus (the unconventional, the unexpected, & electric) will begin a friendly aspect to the North Node, ruler of our true fate. Our immediate destiny may be connected to a pleasant surprise the last part of October!?
And finally on the 29th, after 2 long years, Saturn will leave Virgo & enter Libra which well discuss next month ?

Astrologers note: I use a solar chart beginning with 0 degrees of the Sun Sign on the Ascendant. I then use equal house cusps, following with the next sign ~ 2nd House, 0 Scorpio, and so forth.
I do the Solstice and Equinox charts from a mundane, public perspective. But you can also apply it personally. I like to look at how the chart might affect our nation over the next 3 months until the Winter Solstice.
As of September 22, the Sun will enter Libra at 0 degrees which marks the beginning of the Autumnal Equinox. Libra is the sign of partnership. Because its in the house of Self we must partner internally. I see no foreign aid in this chart. Its completely up to ourselves to use our creativity, ingenuity and optimism to work through what confronts us.
As the Sun enters Libra it comes into an exact, really hard aspect to Pluto ~ planet of annihilation, destruction, and re-building from ashes. Because Pluto falls right on the 4th house cusp of home, family, and real estate we can expect to see some marked changes in these areas! It also marks a very personal transformation that comes from complete letting go and restructuring through our own power and determination! The North Node (destiny) falls in the same sign and house putting fate on our side!
Mars in the very public 10th house shows our pride and purpose to the whole world. This is especially true when it comes to health care reform. One of the strongest configurations is Mercury retrograde, exactly conjunct (next to) Saturn, directly opposite Uranus retrograde in the 6th house of health. Uranus trines (great energy) Mars. Expect the unexpected for sure! But with 2 planets retrograde there will be remnants from the past or repeating old mistakes. The Saturn/Mercury conjunction falls in the sign of Virgo which lends itself to alternative healthcare. Combine that with the opposition to unconventional Uranus and you may finally see some inroading in that area. Holistic medicine and the like may finally be given the credibility it deserves and may be seen as a viable option!Saturn/Mercury in the 12th house of hidden enemies could spell strong opposition from the conservatives behind the scenes. Venus in the 12th lends we might also receive some help or financing from secret sources.
The Moon representing our country in the 2nd house of finances in the sign of Scorpio reinforces the secrecy of certain objectives. It also speaks of making wise investments. Because it trines Mars and Uranus ~ effectively creating a Grand Trine (which is grand!) ~ I think at least some part of a health care objective will be financed and brought to fruition. However, with the South Node (self undoing) in the same sign & house as Mars, it might ultimately be to our detriment.

New Moons are times of new beginnings, planting new seeds and setting intentions. The New Moon in Virgo will focus on issues related with health, healing, service and preparation. This New Moon makes a close conjunction to Saturn in Virgo. Its never too late to pay homage to the virgin goddesses.
The woman who is virgin, one-in-herself, does what she does, not because of any desire to please, to be liked or approved, to catch his interest or love, but because what she does is true. She is what she is, because that is what she is. Virginity is a process of being true to oneself, and if one has not been true than virginity is renewable. Its never too late to become a virgin!
Woman can renew their virginity, intactness and integrity through the rites of Aphrodite, where she would annually renew her virginity by bathing, cleansing and purifying herself by the sea. The value placed upon virginity is a mans idea, and thats how men and the patriarchy controlled woman. As if virginity was a wonderful thing in the first place.

This is the best New Moon to take greater responsibility for our health physically, emotionally and spiritually. Its time to get serious about dietary changes, exercise routines and addressing medical issues weve been either denying, or putting off. Saturn is about commitment and Virgo represents the body. This is the right time to deal with our inner critic and attachment to perfectionism. Theres an indigenous saying that goes, is the good, true and beautiful in my nature as strong as the whispers of my demons and monsters? We must answer yes to that on a daily basis.
This New Moon will energize the third of five oppositions on September 15th between Saturn and Uranus. These cycles often coincide to political, social and economic changes. The last opposition cycle was in the mid-1960s when the Civil rights movement, Vietnam War, Anti-War protests and the emergence of the Hippie revolution took center stage. Those with late degrees of mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces) will feel it most intensely. Mercury, the ruler of Virgo squares Pluto on the 17th, suggesting that knowledge is power! Small issues can take on great importance. Your mind can probe beneath the surface. Secrets will be revealed.

Mercury appears retrograde 3 times a year for approximately 3 weeks at a time. Here’s the kicker ~ I attach a 3 week shadow on each side making it a 9 week period altogether.
Not all of Mercury retrograde is negative, though. Yes, cell phones and computers can get glitchy; the light can come on in your car and you take it to the mechanic and nothing is wrong with it. ( I always tell people, unless it’s the break light or something important, wait until after the retrograde to get it checked because it just might fix itself!)� Anything with communication and transportation can go haywire and if you’re a Gemini or a Virgo, ruled by Mercury, it can be even more frustrating.�
You must really be careful of what you say and how you say it.� Words can be misconstrued.� It’s also a bad time to start anything new or sign important contracts or documents.� The exception can be someone who is born with Mercury retrograde�~ it does not affect them as much.� So what can possibly be positive?� Lots!� Mercury retrograde is an excellent time to contact or hear from people from your past!� Rather than solicit new clients, return to your sphere of influence.� Reach out to someone you need to REconcile with.� It’s an awesome time to REconnect.� Go back and FINISH old projects so when the retrograde period is over you can begin new endeavors with a clean slate.� It’s not the best time to get married but how about REmarried?� Rather than plan a trip to some place new, why not REvisit a favorite destination? Different people have different opinions on traveling while Mercury is retrograde.� If it can be avoided, it probably should.� Some plans may have to be REscheduled.� It’s almost impossible to hook up with new people but an excellent time to get together with old friends or plan a REunion!� Just about anything you can put “RE” in front of works.� Refurbish, redo, reconnect etc.� The one exception can be remodeling.� If it’s your first time doing it and contracts are involved, try and wait until after.� Things will have to be REdone!�
Don’t go to a new agency, partner, or job if you can help it.� Try to connect new endeavors with the past if that makes sense.� Also, if you’ve had a dilemma you may now suddenly have an epiphany.� If you’ve been waiting for something or someone to arrive it could happen now!�
We all have the ability to focus on the positive and make the most of trying situations.� Use your energy wisely and constructively.� Rather than branching out in new directions, go down a tried and true path.� Be patient and really cautious with the words you choose and use.� Drive extra carefully. SEPTEMBER ASTROLOGICAL PREDICTIONS ~ Featuring Virgo

Some planetary notes this month:
Mercury goes Retrograde on the 6th but truthfully its already in effect until October 14th. I will resurrect my old blog next week on MRx to help remind everyone of the positive uses of that energy too!
Pluto, the intense little planet ruling nuclear energy, goes direct on September 11th. Another good reason to pay attention on that day!
Saturn and Uranus will face off again on the 15th. Look for matters pertaining to old vs new, conservatism vs socialism, conventional vs unconventional etc. This same opposition took place in the mid 1960s in exactly the same signs (only the planets were reversed)!
The month of September should be interesting to say the least!! And on a personal note.
If you know your Rising/Ascendant sign and/or your Moon sign, read those forecasts too. Especially refer to your Rising sign for relationship issues.

VIRGO
Happy New Year to the most meticulous, vital, and analytical sign of the Zodiac! As hard working individuals you have really been through a lot these past several years.
Last years focus was primarily on self improvement. You should be feeling a strong sense of accomplishment as things finally start to manifest and your goals are achieved. Patience and persistence pay off!
As you build your own self worth, it will reflect in the people and circumstances you attract to you. This may explain why relationships, romantic and platonic, remain unpredictable and reminiscent of the past. You will be forced to repeat the circumstance until you learn the lesson. New Moons are times of new beginnings, planting seeds and setting intentions. Leo has rulership over the heart, spine and blood. This New Moon awakens our spirit and courage to listen to our hearts. The word courage comes from the Latin word for the heart, Cor, which literally means to take heart. In the words of mythologist Joseph Campbell Follow your Bliss or heart. Leo is associated with creativity, self-expression, love and romance. Like all fire signs Leo enjoys having lots of fun, laughter and a good time.
Since Leo is ruled by the Sun they need to shine, to show off and most of all they need to feel special. This is one of the best New Moons to look for love and romance. However, its important that you set intentions to which you love and how you want to be loved? We need to bless those who challenge us to love more fully, for they are great teachers who show us when we are open hearted or close hearted. The Sufis tell us the greatest remorse we can ever experience is love unexpressed. When you keep your heart locked, closed, over protected, you can never free yourself from the cocoon and enjoy the freedom of the butterfly.
My favorite Solar myths for the Leo archetype are the Arthurian Grail legends, which are essentially stories of wounding and healing. The story of Parsifal and the wounded king who is wounded in the groin (this is before viagra) and the kingdom becomes barren and nothing is allowed to grow. Its not until Parsifal (inner fool) goes on a quest to discover a magical vessel of healing and plenty- the Grail. The king is not a king, who has been injured and recovering, he is the wounded king. This is an identity of loss and disempowerment.
The healing finally takes place through the asking of a question, which sets into motion not only the healing of the king, but also the land. The quest for the grail is really about a quest for healing, renewal and recovery. In the words of the coyote trickster astrologer Caroline Casey, at the heart of all great cultures is the heroic task to restore the healing waters of life. Remember, that a myth is something that never happened, but is always happening!
This New Moon illuminates the opposition to the triple conjunction between Jupiter, Chiron and Neptune in Aquarius. We are called on to open our hearts to serve others rather than just ourselves through cooperative, community and collective participation. To exercise our personal will (Leo) for the good of others and the world (Aquarius). This New Moon is the fourth of five Crisis Moons this year, when the Moon is at its (perigee) closest to the earth. The degree for this New Moon from Zodiacal Symbology reads: A stream of oil falling from mid-air upon the troubled waters beneath. Denotes one with a peculiar magnetic aura enables him to bring quarreling units to a peaceful union. It is a symbol of Conciliation.

Yet another Eclipse! Because Ive written so much about Eclipses this summer I thought I would include this one with the horoscopes. Please refer to my previous blogs for more info.
This Eclipse is the final one in the series affecting the 4 signs Leo, Aquarius, Taurus, and Scorpio. These signs are wrapping up a 2 year cycle that should feel complete around November.
Because this Eclipse occurs in the progressive sign of Aquarius, we can use alternative approaches to old problems and dilemmas. Thinking outside the box, fits good here! Remain open minded and keep your friends close for there is strength in the collective conscience.
LEO
Happy Birthday to the most gregarious, generous, and extravagant sign of the Zodiac!
Youve been through a lot these past couple of years while fate has intervened to teach you some life lessons. It was an important time for relationships of all kinds and there were probably major domestic adjustments too. Rest assured, this year youll be picking up the pieces and putting them into place.

July is a big month with lots of planetary activity!! Uranus turns retrograde on the 1st ~ Expect the unexpected for that week at least! Surprises emanating from the past are in store until the end of the year.
There will also be two Eclipses this month. A Lunar Eclipse on July 7th, and a Solar Eclipse on July 21st. The signs most affected by these will be Cancer, Capricorn, Aries, and Libra. If your Moon or Ascendant is any of those signs you can expect changes this summer two. It may be time to transform your love life or your residence.
Change is all around us. We need to embrace it in order to grow. These are progressive times!
CANCER
Happy Birthday to the most sensitive, familial, and nurturing sign of the Zodiac! Hang on tight for a wild ride this year!! Youre entering into a 2 year cycle of fate. A lot of which will have to do with working out past karma. Be prepared for surprises and be willing to adjust accordingly.
Since January, theres been major transformation around partnerships and starting next month destiny will smile on all relationships. You can expect a lot of passion!! How that works itself out is up to you! Youre drawing in people who are a lot more intense and persuasive. Dont surrender your personal power. New Moons are times of new beginnings, planting new seeds and of setting intentions. We are all familiar with the sign Cancer associated with the crab. However, my premise is that many of the attributes and meaning of the signs come from smaller star groups that surround the major constellations of the zodiac. Therefore, the meaning for the sign Cancer actually derives from the bear. Directly below the constellation of the crab is the constellation Ursa Major, the Great Bear.
The qualities and principles associated with Cancer such as nurturing, mothering and care taking comes from characteristics of the bear rather than the crab? Consider how the bear is about protection, nesting, maternal and loves food. Once again, the point I want to drive home is to understand that the meaning of the signs in the zodiac are influenced by other star groups and constellations near the region of the major constellations of the zodiac.
This New Moon is the second Crisis Moon of 2009 and the most powerful occurring so close to the Summer Solstice. The Crisis Moon is when the Moon is near its perigee (closest to earth) emotional and domestic issues become more intensified especially with the Moon in its own sign, Cancer. Its not uncommon for those with the sign Cancer, the Moon, or 4th house strongly activated in their charts to be susceptible to Lunar Burnout! This is a form of a breakdown that happens when youre called on to nurture others too much, for too long and youre not doing enough to nurture and care for yourself. People who suppress or refuse to honor their own essential core needs, and subordinate their needs for the needs of others, are those who wind up emotionally burned out (Moon). Cancers never know when to cut the cord and stop trying to nurture the world.
Cancer is a sign related to emotional memory. Cancers often think about the hurt or wounds of the past, rather than focusing on the joy of recovery. Holding on and clinging to the past is Cancers way of staying stuck in the womb, of self-preservation. SUMMER SOLSTICE, June 20/21, 2009

Astrologers note: I use a solar chart beginning with 0 degrees of the Sun Sign on the Ascendant. I then use equal house cusps, following with the next sign ~ 2nd House 0 Leo and so forth.
I like to look at mundane events every three months, on the solstices and equinoxes to gage what our nation can potentially experience during that time. However, you can also apply the info on a personal level.
When we study astrology we are looking at how the different planets aspect each other and this chart has some uncanny aspects that are really tight by degree.
The Sun at 0 degrees Cancer, in direct opposition to retrograde Pluto, signifies a nation in ongoing crisis. In the Vernal Equinox chart Pluto was in the 10th house, still having us appear strong and powerful in the worlds eyes. Now that Chiron is in the solar 10th, and Pluto is on the 7th house cusp, we are emerging as openly wounded making us vulnerable to attack from others who feel more powerful. Pluto oppositions can also bring hidden things into the light. We could be exposed from past deceptions and we may uncover a powerful plot against us.
The Sun-Pluto opposition forms an out of sign T-square to Uranus in Pisces in the 9th. Our foreign counter parts are in a period of instability too, especially in regards to religion/Spirituality, legal, educational, and oil/gas resources. The charts ruler the Moon, conjunct Mercury in the 12th, reminds us that any hidden agendas we might have can wind up hurting us and them. We need to compromise and grow Spiritually to keep up with others. A more open minded approach suggests possible financial aid with gas/oil supplies as evidenced with the exact conjunction of Jupiter, Neptune, and Chiron in the 8th in Aquarius in an out of sign trine to the Sun and sextile to Pluto. Because all three points are retrograde and in a tight funky aspect to Uranus, we must handle all foreign relations delicately.
The same funky aspect exists between the Sun/Pluto opposition and the North and South nodes. Both nodes straddle our financial sectors making tweaking the economy our #1 priority. We are way out of our comfort zone and will need to think of new and different ways to boost our failing financial system.
The most positive configuration falls in our house of allies. We can derive much joy, pleasure, and perhaps economic aide from the Venus/Mars conjunction in the 11th ruled by Taurus. The exact conjunction exactly trines Saturn in Virgo in the 3rd. If we communicate honestly and effectively and work hard alongside our friends, we can make positive steps forward and benefit in the long term.
Factor in the USA (7 degrees) Gemini Rising Chart for a few notables! All of a sudden S.S. 12th house Moon conjunct Mercury leaps into prominence! They fall on the USA ascendant and USA Uranus exactly! Expect the unexpected as were in for some big surprises! May be even about our new President??
Hidden things are bound to come to light any day now as the summer is riddled with eclipses. These will mainly affect our financial sectors in both the Summer Solstice and USA charts. Ill be writing a separate blog next month that will give more details on the eclipses and what to expect!
USA Mars falls in S.S. 12th reinforcing the notion of hidden enemies and secret aggression ~ whether it comes from internal or external forces. Its wide square to S.S. Uranus in the 9th, and wide trine to the Jupiter/Neptune/Chiron/USA Moon (18 Aquarius) stellium in S.S. 8th, strengthens the notion of unexpected foreign aggression but offers we might be able to buy our way out or perhaps strike a trade for services??
USA Mars also squares S.S. Saturn in the 3rd, suggesting a communication breakdown or a delay in tactics. S.S. Saturn is applying to a conjunction of USA Neptune, both in Virgo. Again we must be very clear in what we say and how we say it. (This will be even more important in the Autumnal Equinox chart.) Any deceptions we generate can come back to bite us in the butt. These 2 planets hooking up in the 3rd, also explains the medias saturation with the Go Green movement. Saturn trine the Venus/Mars conjunction in the S.S. 11th house, offers us the opportunity to form important groups and follow other countries examples, making us more popular in the global community.
The USA Cancer stellium falls in both charts 1st house conjunct S.S. Sun and opposing S.S. Pluto. The Venus/Jupiter conjunction supports the notion of self love and optimism suggesting we can fight outward aggression through our strength of Unity. Were approaching our Solar Return (birthday) in a couple of weeks also, signifying new beginnings. A positive approach will certainly benefit us in these trying times. Let us not be our own worst enemy, but hold our heads high, work on our own growth, especially Spiritual, and embrace the change that will ultimately lead us to our higher purpose!

FULL MOON IN SAGITTARIUS! ~ Party, Party, Party!
Full Moons are when things come to a head or come to fruition. Either way it’s usually lively! And what could be more lively than a Full Moon in Sagittarius!?
Sagittarius rules higher education, Religion, Law, Philosophy, and distant people, places, and things. It is a fun, outgoing, and expansive sign.
Jupiter is Sagittarius’ ruling planet and currently resides in Aquarius ~ sign of the unusual, unconventional, higher minded, metaphysical, humanitarian, and inventive spirit! Aquarius is all about friendships and groups.
Given the two influences and the intensity of a Full Moon, one would expect a very social weekend. You could be home cramming for finals but don’t be surprised if you’re interrupted by boisterous friends!
There will probably be a lot of big year end parties on college campuses. There could also be many Spiritual gatherings or church picnics this weekend. Family reunions are favored too. It’s a good time be active in your community and network, network, network. A lot of socializing will probably be done over cocktails. Sag’s love their wine!
Sagittarians are usually very sports minded so there may be many sporting events this weekend (most likely followed by a big victory party!)
Either way, this weekend should be a lot of fun. The energy will be high and lively! All physical activities are favored and there will be a lot of stimulating conversation with the Sun in quick, witty Gemini!

New Moon in Gemini ~ May 24, 2009
New Moons are times of planting new seeds, new beginnings, and setting intentions. The Moon is what nurtures and feeds us. The New Moon in Gemini nourishes us through mental curiosity, reading, writing, learning new information, and making connections. Mercury/Hermes ruler of Gemini is the messenger of the gods, and was the only god to travel between two worlds. He was also the protector of travelers and athletes. Geminis often feel like they travel between two worlds.
Mercury retrograde in Taurus helps to calm the mind from incessant chatter and frivolous gossip. Mercury moves forward (direct) on the 30th and re-enters Gemini on June 14th. Mercury/Hermes always carries a healing rod, the caduceus that reminds us of the healing and wounding powers of our words. Chose what you wish to communicate consciously and dont become mired in toxic verbal sparring or abuse towards others.
The triple conjunction between Jupiter, Neptune and Chiron in Aquarius reflect the lines of communication are open to new truths, dreams and generous healing spirit. The last triple conjunction between these bodies was back in 1945 in Libra. Social change, reform, equal rights, and justice for all echo today the Aquarian ideal of cooperation, altruistic and humanitarian values. The expansive influence of Jupiter with Chiron can become a powerful aide to the healing process, while Neptune yearns for the ideal social setting by participating in groups, community and collective cooperation.
The Sabian symbol for the triple conjunction at 26 degrees 26 minutes of Aquarius reads: AN ANCIENT POTTERY BOWL FILLED WITH FRESH VIOLETS. The importance of traditional skills and artistic values deeply rooted in instinctive feelings. Violets have often been a symbol of modesty and humility. What I find interesting is this conjunction is conjunct Neptunes discovery degree at 26 degrees of Aquarius! Neptune was first discovered on September 23, 1846 as America was undergoing radical social changes. The Mormons arrived in Salt Lake City, waves of Irish immigrants came to this country, the poets Thoreau, Emerson and Whitman came into prominence, and the Mexican War broke out. Come one full Neptune return cycle later and we have trouble with immigration and the Mexican border. Transiting Jupiter, Chiron and Neptune all conjunct the Moon in the Sibily chart (USA) and will have a dramatic effect on the American psyche and collective mood of the country. In the words of Richard Bach from his book Illusions Rarely do members of ones true family share the same roof! Indeed, sometimes our true family is our friends, group, tribal or collective family.
Saturn goes direct in motion on May 16th. We can now move forward with our projects and plans that have been on the back burner. Good time to build bridges so that inner plans find ways for outer expression. If you had been feeling stuck in a rut since February you can gain new traction now and plow ahead with authority.

Mercury appears retrograde 3 times a year for approximately 3 weeks at a time. Here’s the kicker ~ I attach a 3 week shadow on each side making it a 9 week period altogether.
Not all of Mercury retrograde is negative, though. Yes, cell phones and computers can get glitchy; the light can come on in your car and you take it to the mechanic and nothing is wrong with it. ( I always tell people, unless it’s the break light or something important, wait until after the retrograde to get it checked because it just might fix itself!) Anything with communication and transportation can go haywire and if you’re a Gemini or a Virgo, ruled by Mercury, it can be even more frustrating.
You must really be careful of what you say and how you say it. Words can be misconstrued. It’s also a bad time to start anything new or sign important contracts or documents. The exception can be someone who is born with Mercury retrograde~ it does not affect them as much.
So what can possibly be positive? Lots! Mercury retrograde is an excellent time to contact or hear from people from your past! Rather than solicit new clients, return to your sphere of influence. Reach out to someone you need to REconcile with. It’s an awesome time to REconnect. Go back and FINISH old projects so when the retrograde period is over you can begin new endeavors with a clean slate. It’s not the best time to get married but how about REmarried? Rather than plan a trip to some place new, why not REvisit a favorite destination? Different people have different opinions on traveling while Mercury is retrograde. If it can be avoided, it probably should. Some plans may have to be REscheduled. It’s almost impossible to hook up with new people but an excellent time to get together with old friends or plan a REunion! Just about anything you can put “RE” in front of works. Refurbish, redo, reconnect etc. The one exception can be remodeling. If it’s your first time doing it and contracts are involved, try and wait until after. Things will have to be REdone!
Don’t go to a new agency, partner, or job if you can help it. Try to connect new endeavors with the past if that makes sense. Also, if you’ve had a dilemma you may now suddenly have an epiphany. If you’ve been waiting for something or someone to arrive it could happen now!
We all have the ability to focus on the positive and make the most of trying situations. Use your energy wisely and constructively. Rather than branching out in new directions, go down a tried and true path. Be patient and really cautious with the words you choose and use. Drive extra carefully. Take time to REview. Think before you take action as your mind (Mercury) could be playing tricks on you! Stay as focused as possible and don’t let it run your life. Did Mercury retrograde bother you BEFORE you knew about it? We must deal with the past before we head into the future!

New Moon in Taurus, April 24, 2009
New Moons are times of new beginnings, planting new seeds and setting of intentions. This New Moon represents our connection with Mother Earth. This Month with the Sun, Moon, Mercury all in Taurus along with Saturn in Virgo and Pluto in Capricorn (earth signs) sets off the emergency alarm for green consciousness. Since Taurus is one of the oldest signs in the Zodiac it has a long affinity with the Earth, agriculture, land, nature and the environment.
The animal totem for Taurus is the Bull as the bull use to plow the fields to cultivate the land for the crops to grow. The glyph for Taurus symbolizes the head of the bull, the crescent moon on top of the circle (spirit). However, from a much older tradition the glyph for Taurus represents the fallopian tubes and the womb. This reaffirms Taurus as a sign associated with fertility and abundance.
This New Moon asks us to reflect on what gives us pleasure and what makes us feel rich or content. Anything that enchants and indulges the senses is a source of pleasure to Taurus. In fact, Taureans are never happier than when putting physical form into beauty.
